Horseback riding adventure in the high and rugged country of the Canadian Rockies on top quality horses that are matched to your ability. Crystal clear mountain streams, high mountain alpine meadows, mountain passes and breath-taking scenery. Be sure to bring your camera.

And after a full day in the saddle you’re welcomed back to camp for some great cooking. Bring your musical talents and instruments and relax by a crackling campfire. Then turn in at day’s end to walled canvas outfitters tents complete with comfortable cots and foamies.

There’s a large range of experiences offered at the Anchor D. Choose from 2 or 3 hour trail rides from the Ranch, day rides, mountain day rides, pack trips, hay and sleigh rides and Ranch vacations.

Accommodations are varied. The Anchor D will be pleased to help you make your accommodation arrangements.

If you are flying in for a Ranch Vacation, please arrive the day before your trip. If you are driving to the Ranch please arrive by 9:30 am the morning the trip begins.

Choose Grandpa’s Cabin; located right on the Ranch this is a cozy 2 bedroom log cabin nestled in the foothills of the Rockies right in Kananasis Country. 2 bedrooms (one queen and two singles), hide-a bed and lots of amenities. Great for families or for that romantic and relaxing get-away. Only 5 km. from the Sandy McNabb Recreation Area for fantastic cross-country skiing or skating.

There are guided trail rides and horseback vacations available on-site. Nearby you can choose from many activities – golfing, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking, swimming, shopping and restaurants. Head out for a drive – only two hours away are Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, Remington Alberta Carriage Museum, Glenbow Museum, Calgary Stampede as well as other attractions in the area.

Or the Idle Spurs Log Home Bed & Breakfast in Black Diamond offers king size log beds and Jacuzzi, hearty western breakfast and many other amenities and is within walking distance to quaint artisan shops and cafes.

These trips are done from the High Mountain Wilderness Camp, in the beautiful Sheep River Valley:

4-Day Adventurer:

7-Day Explorer:
Four days of horseback riding not enough? This is the ultimate in spectacular riding in the Alberta mountains

Weekenders:
Two nights of camping, and a full, exciting weekend of horseback riding in the mountains

These trips are based out of the Ranch:

Trail Rides:
2 and 3 hours of trail riding from the Ranch, can add a steak dinner for groups of 8 or more

Ranch Day Rides:
Full day of horseback riding from the Ranch into Kananaskis Country

Full day of horseback riding in the high mountains west of the Ranch

Ranch Vacations:
Do some trail riding from the Ranch, and spend your nights in a luxury log cabin
