Brian and Shaunere Lane, along with their four children are proud of the way they have blended their two cultures into a truly unique western setting. Brian is an Albertan rancher, who is part of a long generation of Lane ranchers in the Claresholm region. Shaunere is a Texas-born cowgirl. In 2007 the Lane’s were awarded the National Environmental Stewardship Award. They were recognized for the environmental approach they have taken to improve the condition of the soil, grass and water sources, by implementing environmentally beneficial practices on their ranch. Guests get to see the ranch in operation and appreciate the environmentally friendly and humane animal practices used.
The Lane’s are pleased to offer you the chance to stay in their private, new pine cabin, complete with a wood-burning fireplace. This cozy cabin is the perfect place to warm up in and relax after a day out on the trails. The guesthouse is fully furnished with hand built log furniture including queen size log beds of which are covered with beautiful quilts. There is a basic kitchen and a bathroom with shower/toilet; all the linens are supplied.
Guests will have the privilege of enjoying Shaunere Lane’s southwestern style ranch cooking. Many guests have praised Shaunere for her fantastic cooking skills. Some of things guests have said while referring to her cooking have been “Thank you Shaunere for the hearty, delicious ranch breakfasts” and “You know cooking is good when your clothes shrink!” At Brown Creek Ranch the guests and the Lane family eat together, this gives everyone a chance to get to know each other, tell stories and enjoy each other’s company. Whether you are an experienced horseback rider or just learning, Brown Creek Ranch offers a collection of different activities and packages that fit the needs of just about anybody. These packages range from a simple weekend getaway to a weeklong extravaganza. All packages include horseback riding through the majestic Porcupine Hills, ranch-cooked meals, accommodations in a new pine cabin, ranch activities and a day trip to one of the nearby famous attractions. The famous Bar U Ranch is located just north of the ranch, as well as Chains Lake, Kananaskis County and just south of the ranch lies Frank Slide, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Fort Macleod Museum and Remington Carriage Museum.
