With turn of the century charm this remote backcountry lodge is nestled in the majestic Canadian Rockies, bordering Banff National Park.
Over 30 years experience in mountain horseback riding, guiding and outfitting ensures a memorable and safe authentic western experience for both riders and non-riders alike.
The Ranch is west of the Ya Ha Tinda Ranch, near the headwaters of the Red Deer River. From the Big Horn Campground to the camp they’re a short eight miles, or 1.5 to 2 hours, by stagecoach across the Ya Ha Tinda. There are no motorized vehicles permitted on the ranch, instead teams of 2 to 6 horses or mules are used to pull the stagecoach or wagons.
The folks that work here know their jobs and are more than willing to answer questions to help you enjoy the experience of wilderness living. There are always chores to do, with the horses to feed, water and care for, wood to chop, fires to stoke, and meals to cook. You’re not expected to do anything more than rest and relax, but if you want to participate in the life, feel free to pitch.
