Moose Mountain Adventures
Horse enthusiasts, adventure junkies, nature lovers and avid sightseers are all encouraged to take a Moose Mountain Adventure. The staff at Moose Mountain are “Dedicated to providing outstanding horseback adventures in harmony with nature since 1991”. The philosophy of Moose Mountain adventures is to respect both horses and the wilderness and they seek to educate guests in the skills that will enable them to enjoy both to the fullest. A Moose Mountain trip will take you through the gorgeous Rocky Mountain Region where the varied terrain and ecology of this region will make Moose Mountain Adventures an unforgettable experience.
Neil MacLaine is the founder and owner of Moose Mountain Adventures. He is a horse enthusiast and explorer. Neil founded Moose Mountain Adventures in 1991 and he has participated in 2000 miles of canoe trekking, as well as participated in a variety of other wilderness treks. He is a qualified, experienced guide who now shares his skills and knowledge with his guests. With years of experience in backcountry trips, Moose Mountain Adventures ensures a safe and thrilling adventure that you will still be talking about for years to come.
One of the things that people always remember when reminiscing about a trip is the food. You will definitely not be disappointed in this category during any of the Moose Mountain Adventure packages. Each guide is also trained in preparation of true cowboy dinners, all of which are prepared over the campfire. You will ride the same trails as many historic cowboys. Accommodations along the trail differ from package to package but always include three meals a day and shelter; rotating between camping in lean-tos under the stars and staying at ranch B & B’s along the trail.
Guides will teach guests about horsemanship, back country navigation, survival skills and nature. Pack trips can be customized to suit the skills of groups. Expeditions combining riding with hiking and canoeing can also be arranged.
You don’t have to be a hardcore rider to enjoy Moose Mountain Adventures. There are different packages available to suit everybody’s needs. These packages range from hour-long horseback rides, to the week-long High Plains Drifter trip across the plains of Alberta into Saskatchewan or the two-week pack trip through the Kananaskis Country. They also offer you a variety of other adventures as well. There are wagon rides to enjoy, and some interesting programs that might feed your interest in trail riding and horses. Day rides are also available to the public, where you will spend a beautiful afternoon exploring the Kananaskis area on Little Elbow Trail.
With nine different overnight pack trips to choose from, guests return year after year. Most people are not satisfied with just one day in the mountains, so they offer longer trips that will test your riding abilities and give you the opportunity to relish in the beauty that is the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies.
